BENEFITS AND ADVANCEMENTS OF THE PRISM 1. United Appearance: The PRISM learning algorithm allows it to acquire the timing information for the flash sequence from a PRISM-SPS (Synchronized Pulse Source). This allows an observer to perceive the units as operating in unison and flashing together, even when in reality, the units may no longer be within synchronization proximity and they are operating independent of each other. 2. Ease of use: Setup is as simple as inserting a 9V battery and bringing a PRISM within line of sight of a PRISM-SPS. 3. Transparent Synchronization: If eventually a PRISM’s battery dies or enough drift occurs in the flash period due to the timing tolerances of the learning algorithm, automatic resynchronization is accomplished by bringing PRISM within line of sight of a PRISM-SPS. No conscious act by the user must be performed for the beacons to resynchronize, as the beacons wirelessly operate on their own. 4. Synchronization Speed: The PRISM’s wireless synchronization makes synchronizing a fleet of N beacons fast and easy, with a time order of one (1). This is opposed to physical synchronization methods that range in time order from one (1) to N. 5. Unlimited Beacons: The PRISM’s broadcast design poses virtually no limit on the number of beacons that can be synchronized at one time. 6. Exclusive Use: Only the PRISM units that know the synchronization
protocol are capable of synchronizing the units, and being synchronized.
This makes the receiving units virtually immune to other optical
signals or noise that could upset it’s flashing pattern.
